I have heard it said that one of the times when we are most like God is when we are creative. The first couple of chapters of Genesis tells us how God created our world and mankind. I know we all have a basic knowledge of this story but please take the time to go back and read it again and be amazed at the Creator.
One of the most beautiful verses in this passage says, “Thus the heaven and earth were completed in all their vast array.” (Gen. 2:1) (NIV). The Message translation of this verse says, “Heaven and earth were finished down to the last detail.” Several other versions say that vast array refers to everything that fills the heaven and earth.
What are some of the vast array of heaven and earth that amazes you the most? Take the time to make a list. Let me get you started. Have you ever thought about how amazing colors are? Do you realize that God could have made everything gray, and we would have never known the difference? But, because he is a God of vast array he created color, hues, shades and tints for our eyes to see. Now get started on your list.
Did you list things like the majestic mountains, the mighty roaring waters, and the starry sky? Or are you more amazed by the small things, such as a butterfly’s wings or the tiny grains of sand? Whatever is on your list, please be reminded that the God, who created those things, also created you and knows every detail about you. He also loves you more than the things he created because you were created for a relationship with him.
Whatever your creative outlet, whether you write, paint, craft, cook or any one of a million other ways of expressing your creativity invite God in to help you. What better way to improve than to learn from the Master.

“My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:2) (NIV)
