Are you still rushing around doing last minute things for Christmas? I knew this was a busy time and you didn’t have time to read a lengthy blog and to be honest I didn’t have time to write one. So, I wrote a poem instead. I hope that when you need a break from the hectic pace, you will take a couple of minutes, read this poem and focus on “The Gift.” Merry Christmas!
On the first Christmas, there was a tiny gift,
That came in a package so small.
Wrapped with ordinary wrapping,
Delivered in a stable stall.
The news began to spread, that the gift had arrived
People came to see, as excitement filled the air.
Maybe this gift was something special.
This simple gift must be something quite rare.
“A baby, just another baby
Is that why we came all this way?
Just to see a newborn
Babes are born every day.”
As they gazed up on that tiny face,
They began to see.
This baby was a gift to all.
He was born for them, you and me.
He was born on that first Christmas,
So that all who believed might know.
It was the Savior of the world,
In that tiny package those many years ago.
Those that gathered in that stall,
Knew they would never be the same
But that was as it should be.
Changing hearts is why he came.
