Potts Pages - Happy Birthday, America!
June 30, 2016
This coming week we celebrate the Fourth of July. It is the time that we look back and reflect on the beginning of our nation and its independence.
We often complain about the condition that America is in now. We complain about the upcoming elections, the economy and on down the list. While I believe we have every right to be concerned about the sins of our nation and getting America back on the right track, complaining doesn’t help. So, as a birthday present to our country, let’s be a part of the solution instead part of the problem.
Pray - Stay continually be in a state of prayer for our nation and our leaders. God can change the hearts and minds of those in prominent positions.
Respect those in authority - We may not like those in power and at times may find it hard to respect them but we must have respect for the office they hold.
Vote - Don’t let those that you deem unworthy candidates take the right to vote from you. Prayerfully go to the polls and cast your vote with God’s leadership.
Support the Military - Pray, write letters, send care packages, show love to their families and thank them when they return home. Also, remember those that gave their lives for our nation.
Give Back - Get involved in your community. Make it a better place to live because you are there.
Be Grateful - Give thanks for the freedoms that we still enjoy, especially, the freedom to worship the one true God.
Celebrate - Go on picnics, cookout with family, watch fireworks or whatever celebrating America looks like to you. Remember the forefathers and the principles on which America was built. We still live in the greatest country in the world, and she is worth celebrating.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) (NIV)
