It has been a very exciting week for this writer. A long time dream has come true for me. My first book was released on Amazon. I wanted to give you a sneak preview. It is my prayer that this book will be an encouragement to those with disabilities or those just dealing with life’s struggles.
The following is part of the introduction explaining how 101 Life Lessons From Uno (The One-Legged Duck) got its name and an excerpt from the book.

Introduction
Several years ago while on vacation, my family visited a beautiful lake with more ducks than we had ever seen in one place. While feeding them, we noticed one particular duck in the group. He had only one leg. The other one was there, but the foot was mangled and not touching the ground. My daughter asked what happened to him. I told her that it appeared as though he had been in an accident and that his foot could have gotten caught in a boat rudder or motor. My daughter named him Uno, the Spanish word for one.
Uno the duck had a purpose. We have admired his perseverance, his determination, and his spunk at staying in the game even after his disability. Part of Uno’s purpose was to be an inspiration. I can think of no better way to let him inspire than in the pages of a book.

Hiding Doesn’t Help

Often when something uncomfortable happens, we try to escape. We hide from the world. We avoid the people and places that we knew before. We want to take the easy way out. We have to swallow our pride and get out of the tall grasses that we have nested into for refuge. We have to be brave enough to do the right thing even when it is the hard thing.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you."
(Deuteronomy 31:6)
