One of the things that I like to do when I am studying scripture is to look up the definition of the important words in the passage. It helps me understand and have a fresh perspective to see all of the definition.
When I looked up the definition of refresh, this is what I found:
  • To provide new vigor and energy by rest, food, etc.
  • To stimulate (the memory)
  • To make fresh again; reinvigorate or cheer (a person, the mind, spirits, etc.)
  • To freshen in appearance, color, etc. (Referring to computers)
  • To display (an image) repeatedly, in order to prevent fading
  • To read and write (the contents of dynamic storage) at intervals to avoid loss of data

How do you need to be refreshed today? Are you physically running out of steam? If so, take a look at what you are eating, drink plenty of water and get some extra rest. When we are tired, our memory is not as it should be. Do you feel like you are fading like the images on a computer? Do something creative and fun to stimulate your mind.
Have you been down lately? Do you need a little cheering up? You know when we are sad or down about something it usually changes our appearance. Remember the story of Naomi in the Bible? Her mood so affected her looks that her friends hardly recognized her.
How are you doing spiritually? Are you as vibrant in the Lord as you once were? Have you neglected to be diligent in you Bible study and prayer time? Have you let sins go unconfessed?
God is ready and willing to refresh you mind, body, and soul. He wants you walking confidently in him not dragging yourself through life. Go to him and tell him you need a refreshing.

“I’ll refresh tired bodies; I’ll restore tired souls” (Jeremiah 31:25) (MSG)
“Repent then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” (Acts 3:19) (NIV)
