March 18, 2016
This week I had the privilege of leading the prayer meeting for the upcoming women’s conference at my church. Our Theme is Open Door. I wanted to share with you the thoughts and poem that I wrote for that occasion.
Have you ever pushed on a door that had a pull sign posted on it? Have you ever done it again even though it did not work the first time? Me too. Why? We didn’t read the instructions. Have you tried to do life without reading the instruction book? God gave us the Bible so that we don’t have to push when we should be pulling.
Have you ever pushed on a door that had a pull sign posted on it? Have you ever done it again Jesus is our open door to salvation. John 10:9 tells us “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved.” Not only is Jesus the door. He also is the doorkeeper. He opens doors for us to do his will. “I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.” (Revelation 3:8) (NIV)
Have you ever pushed on a door that had a pull sign posted on it? Have you ever done it again He sees us and he knows our deeds. He knows what we need to accomplish what he wants us to accomplish. He gave us our instruction book so that we could know him as the door and the doorkeeper.

The Doorkeeper

When I push instead of pull. When the door is locked up tight. When it seems too hard and I would rather give up than fight. A still small voice reminds me that I am not alone. For behind the door the doorkeeper is home.

He is waiting there to make a way. He holds every key. If the door is closed, it’s because it’s not what’s best for me. I hear him whisper, “If only you had known. If only you had remembered the doorkeeper is home.”

It often seems the door is closed. There is just no way. Yet, the door he opens no one can shut until he gives his say. He holds the door open and says “No need to roam. Yes, I am here. The doorkeeper is home.”
