February is a short month, but when I researched it, I found that there are many important things to take note of this month. The month as a whole is Black History Month, National Heart Month and Dental Health month just to name a few. Of course, we have the holidays of Groundhog’s Day, Valentine’s Day and President’s Day to celebrate.
This month is also the month to remember a lot of great writers. Take a look at the following list. If you don’t know who the writers are look them up, and you will probably recognize their works.
Writer birthdays this month include… 1st | 1902 | Langston Hughes |

You may be asking, “So what the point writers are born every month?” That is the point! Each month, each day, each person holds the potential for greatness. Not only were these great writers born in February but also inventors, artist, business men, entertainers, sports figures and presidents. These people we remember, because their work was out in the public eye in one form or another. Equally important, are those quiet grandmothers, behind the scene workers, sweet encouragers, and courageous prayer warriors. These people may have gone down in history and that is great if that is where they are supposed to be, but it is even more important that we go down in His Story. Someday, the history books will be closed, and the book of life will be opened.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10) (NIV)
