Potts Pages - A Christmas Poem
December 23, 2015
I wrote this poem a few years ago. I hope it reminds you of the real reason for the season. I wish all of you a blessed Christmas!
I Remember
It’s that time once again, time to hurry, time to go.
No time to waste, no time to slow.
Presents for people who don’t need a thing
But that’s the way to make Christmas bells ring.
Presents are not all; there are other things to buy
Another roll of paper and bows to tie
And one more ornament for the overloaded tree
It’ll have to go in the back where no one can see.
Almost forgot to eat lunch, as I grab a bite,
I wonder what to take to the party tonight.
Sausage balls or spinach dip, will someone bring the same?
By the time I get there, will I remember everyone’s name?
Finally, presents under the tree and cards in the mail.
Nothing left to buy until the after Christmas sale.
Exhausted I sit and wonder if there is something I’ve forgot.
It seems as though it might be important and will be missed a lot.
Was it something big or something quite small?
Oh, I remember now! Where is baby Jesus in it all?
I’m sorry Lord for putting other things in the way
Of remembering Jesus as in the manger he lay.
I’m glad I remembered though a bit late
But now that I remember everything else can wait,
This sounds like my Christmas, but I’m not among the few
What about your Christmas? How about you?
