Have you ever seen a movie or TV show where two people are in a room with no way out except a high window or a vent in the ceiling? Many times in a scenario like this one of the people will turn to the other and say, “Give me a boost.”
It would be much more difficult, if not impossible, for a person to get out of that room by themselves. We all need a boost from time to time, and we need to be willing to give a boost to others.
We even have times in our faith walk when we don’t have the answer and need a lift. Are you a faith booster? Do you encourage others? When someone you know is having a faith crisis are you ready to help them have a different perspective?
Let’s look at some ways to boost others ups
- Remind them of God’s character when they don’t understand his actions.
- Give careful advice. Let your words be what Jesus would say not what they want to hear.
- Share an uplifting or reassuring scripture.
- Break it down. Help them to take note of God working in small ways until they can see the big picture
- Send a card, make a call or give a hug.
- Pray with them and for them.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11) (NIV) Sue
